Junior/Intermediate Electrical Designer
Medatech (Mobile Equipment Design & Automation Technology) designs and builds custom mobile heavy equipment. We started in the Mining sector in 2003 and have since expanded into Construction, Waste, Transportation, and Energy. Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for:
o Preparing layouts, drawings and bills of material
o Utilizing Solidworks Design Suite to manage or develop wiring schematics, wiring harness drawings and panel assemblies
o Ensuring compliance to various regulations and standards across multiple regions and markets
o Selecting and/or designing components for function, cost, reliability, ad manufacturability
o Interacting with suppliers and support purchasing process
o Interacting with various other engineering groups and disciplines within the organization
o Working closely with the shop during building of equipment
o Performing test procedures on various machinery including AC motor control and HVDC systems
o Working closely with Controls/Software Engineers and communicating associated design implications and requirements involving electrical/electronic system design
o Utilizing multimeters/ oscilloscopes, Controller Area Network (CAN) tools for design, assembly, and validation
Required Qualifications:
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field such as Electrical Engineering, or similar program
• A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in a similar position
• Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code and the Canadian Electrical Code
• Understand basic wiring, motor control, PLC programming and how they communicate across machinery and link together
• Possess a high proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines
• Self-motivated and capable of taking initiative to complete tasks
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
